Wednesday Miscellany

I know I'm not the only one getting excited about the Altitude Design Summit (I leave in a week!). The prospect of meeting and learning from so many amazing people actually makes me a little giddy. I may even leave with the ability to sign my name using penmanship above a third grade level. Calligraphy class here I come!

Other things that are making me happy right now include:

healthy one pan recipes courtesy of Heidi Swanson--she had me at healthy or maybe it was at one pan

this January gift to myself--I'm not kidding when I say it has revolutionized an activity that used to sometimes feel like a little bit of a pain. So far, I've pulled it out every day this month.

fleece-lined tights for women and babies/girls--Claire and I don't often match, but we've both been rocking these all winter long. I LOVE them.

January's internet crushes--I'm pretty sure if I ran into any of these lovely ladies I would blush and stammer

Oh, and crepes for lunch--even better when eaten with the city sage

Hope your day is a beauty!

Wednesday Miscellany

(The Hills, Deborah Hemory)
Happy Wednesday, dears! We landed late last night after a mostly uneventful flight, and I am eager to get up and run in the hills behind my parents' house in the morning. I usually run with my dad, who has a habit of yelling "IT'S GOOD TO BE ALIIIVE!" when he gets to the top of a hill or when he feels particularly inspired. It used to be embarrassing, but (and don't tell anyone this) now I totally get it and am often tempted to join in. We are working on such fun projects; we can't wait to share. This will be a rather sparse Wedensday Miscellany, since I have not really been making the rounds on the interwebs (for shame!), but I hope you enjoy.
(Photos by Trent, on Dara's blog)
First up, our girl Dara Kent-Cobb (the Mrs. to our friend Trent Bailey Photography) is going balls-to-the-wall with her headpiece line, Preston and Olivia. Let me tell you, ladies and gents, I am going to start wearing headbands just so I can wear her gorgeous pieces. I suggest you do the same.

Also, after finding her Golden print on Etsy, I am officially enamored of Katie Daisy(aka The Wheatfield)'s work.  I mean, come ON. This ampersand is perfection. Her Etsy shop is here (I am taking donations for my newly-sprung Katie Daisy tribute wall), and her website is here.

And have you been following this non-goals trend? The idea is that you make a list of stuff that you are doing right and want to keep doing in 2011. Here are Erin's, Bri's, and Anne's.

Have a lovely day, my dears, and we can't wait to see you right back here tomorrow.

Miscellaneous Miscellany!

Hi, friends! Hope your week is going well; ours is just flying right by. Plus, we're taking the girls to go see Santa at Macy's tomorrow. It's becoming a tradition to take them on Claire's birthday. Last year, we got a confused face from Emi; this year, I am predicting tears (which make for great Santa pictures, too). I've been looking forward to tomorrow since October, so I'm hoping today will fly right by so we can hurry up and go already.
Could there be any more cool stuff hitting the interwebs right now? I really don't think there could be. Here are a few of my favorite things this week:

Let's talk about the styling for Roxy's little girl line. Not too girly, not to grown up. I am loving it.
Also loving this super modern family tree from Martha (of course). She's got a roundup of 12 different ideas up, so head on over there to check it out.
Coolhunting has opened their first pop-up store in collaboration with Gap. This has to be the coolest holiday pop-up ever. I can't wait to get over there

And also,
-Two new sites that launched this week that are gorgeous and gorgeous
-Jordy is a pen man, but if he liked pencils, he would be getting these for sure. They're awesome right on down to the Futura. (Thanks, Michelle, again!)
-Just met this lady tonight, and I am excited that I'm going to be able to say "Oh, I knew her when..." when she blows up.
-Sarah from Blossom and Branch is insanely talented. We worked with her on a shoot last Thursday that she absolutely killed. And, she's the nicest person ever, to boot. Do we have a little girl crush on her? Yes, yes we do.

Happy Wednesday, friends! We hope you have a great day, and that your week is happy and productive. Do you have any cool things from around the internet that you've stumbled on lately?

Still Thankful

Martha Stewart Holiday Craft Sale
Yes, this week has been a little lighter than normal in the posting department, but we'll be back in full swing on Monday. The past few days have been full of wonderful adventures and we keep marveling at the fantastic, creative people we have in our lives--yes, we mean you. Here it is a little more than a week after Thanksgiving and we find ourselves more thankful than ever for friends, both old and new. We're also thankful for our families who love and support us in all our endeavors, so we hope you'll understand if we spend today giving them our full attention (there may be some Christmas trees, hot cocoa, and mistletoe involved).

Oh, and tomorrow we're going to spend some quality friend time together checking out the Martha Stewart Holiday Craft Sale. We hope to see you there!

xoxo,
ME*

Wednesday Miscellany!

Well, darling readers, I have a confession to make--Wednesdays are my favorite posts to write. I leave windows open in my browser just because I want to remember to include stuff when it's my turn to take Wednesdays. And we've got some really good stuff lined up for you today.
We know it's on everyone's minds (and lips, and screens), but the rue issue #2 came out on Sunday night, and oh my goodness, the rue team brought it! Cover-to-cover gorgeousness. And wouldn't you know it, our pals Trent Bailey Photography and Poppies and Posies are contributors this month! Kudos, kittens!

Speaking of Poppies and Posies, did you see their camp-themed wedding? I ran across the images on facebook (did you know you can like us on facebook, too?), and let me tell you: you need to check out their blog to see the full set. Here's a teaser, shot by Jen Huang Photography
I KNOW, right!?!

Elisabeth and I are prepping for a shoot that is going to knock your proverbial socks off, and I came across these shoes by Vans.

I've had a burning love for Vans since middle school, so I guess this makes this the longest-term romantic relationship I've ever had (don't tell Jordy). And with these shoes, we just renewed our vows, Heidi and Seal-style.

And also,

- Be sure to send us your slideshows, and we'll post them tomorrow. Even if you don't want it posted, we'd still love to see it if you feel like sharing. Here's mine in case you missed it on Holiday:

There's a how-to and free downloads of the first and last slides right here.

-Love the vintage cakestands in this shop.
-Love this print.
-Love that this bride is grinning her face off.
-Love unexpected features on super awesome blogs.

Elisabeth and I will have slideshows up on Holiday tomorrow, but other than that, we'll be taking tomorrow and Friday off to enjoy our families and relax a bit. We'll see you right back here on Monday, when our super secret project with Trent Bailey (he who got to shoot Bunny Williams for rue) will hit Brooklyn Bride. We can't wait to share.
We are wishing you and yours a warm, happy, and memorable Thanksgiving. We can't even begin to tell you how grateful we are for you. xoxo

Wednesday Miscellany

Hello, hello. Thank goodness it's Wednesday. While sitting in the Apple Store waiting for my computer to get fixed at 9AM Monday morning, I turned to my sister and said, "wait, it's only Monday, isn't it?" For a moment there, I was convinced it was the end of the week. I think I'm just getting excited about Thanksgiving--only a little more than a week until one of my favorite holidays arrives!

Speaking of Thanksgiving, we have some tips for making the day special on Holiday:
Recipe Resource Guide
Giving Thanks Slideshow Inspiration--Send yours in and we'll post it on Thanksgiving
Adding some extra fun to your day

When I need a distraction from planning our feast, here are some of the things that have been keeping me busy:

Scout and Catalogue

The dreamy photography may have a little something to do with it, but it's the hand-dyed Mexican textiles and gorgeous leather goods that are making me swoon over Scout and Catalogue (found via Wit + Delight).

[source]
First read this and then tell me you don't want to run out and buy the book from your local independent bookseller. Sure, we can't all be as elegantly wasted in real life, but that doesn't make it any less fun to read about it.

If I must be afraid of the dark to get these ceramic nightlights by Wendy Jung, then you'll find me cowering in the corner.

Hooray! I loved this show. I'm so glad it's coming back for a second season.

Oh, and time is running out to sign up for the Spread the Cheer gift exchange. Wouldn't it be fun to watch the handmade treats trickle in during the first weeks of December?

Wednesday Miscellany!

Yay, Wednesday! We hope you ladies and gents are having a happy and productive week! Let's get right to the goodness, shall we?

Kathryn Amberleigh's shoes are ridiculous. As anyone who has seen me dress myself can attest, I am in love with the following things: metallics, navy. These shoes are the perfect combo of both.
New Aussie magazine alert: Have you guys seen Toffee? I haven't had a chance to flip through it yet, but Nancy of Wolf and Willow contributed, and her stuff is a-freaking-dorable. I swoon over her header every single time I go to her blog.

Santo & Dewi Prewedding Film (Say Yes) from Paper Cranes Productions on Vimeo.

I ran across this video while researching some videos for an awesome project we've got in the works with Trent Bailey, and oh my goodness, get a tissue. You can read the full story over on Style Me Pretty, but these kids do these films for a living, and then made their own about their own engagement. I just love when one person in a relationship captures the other person on film--you can just see the affection he has for her. Sniff, sniff.

And also:

J essica Hische is a genius. Sure, she's an AMAZING typographer (check her drop caps, where I got this nifty J here) and illustrator, and sure her portfolio is what every other portfolio wishes it could be, but really here's why she's a genius: she gets the freaking internet to send her CAKE! I mean, come ON. It's one thing to be an insanely talented designer, and quite another to use your talent to get the internet to send you cake. People, let it be known: if you want to send us baked goods, we will gladly accept them.

This wedding over on Brooklyn Bride is killing me.

Have you signed up for our Spread the Cheer gift exchange yet? We've been perusing the sites of folks who are signing up, and let me tell you now so you aren't disappointed later: you are going to want to get in on this. Stat.

And finally, we're giving away a crap ton of pom-poms. In case your life needed to get more fluffy & shiny.

That's all for today, party people! Meg is up tomorrow (you will not be disappointed--her recipe sounds AMAZING!), so we'll see you over on Holiday on Friday. Don't worry--I'll still stop by here to remind you that we're all drinking spiked eggnog (except for Elisabeth, who will be drinking some pretty juice and sparkling goodness that I've had mixed for her by one of our dashing tux-clad bartenders behind our Holiday bar) over there in case you forget. We hope you have a lovely, lovely day!

Wednesday Miscellany!

It's Wednesday, friends! Oh my goodness, Elisabeth and I have been as busy as bees putting together fun stuff and cooking up plans for the future that may or may not include the following: travel to exciting places, new directions for You + ME* (have you checked out You + ME* Holiday yet?), brownies (there's not really a may not in this case), and lots and lots of glitter (again, have you checked out You + Me* Holiday?). Let's start off this week's miscellany with a sneak peek into what we were up to yesterday morning bright and early (taken by yours truly):

Are we crap-your-pants excited to show you the rest? Why yes, yes we are. (Oh, fine, since you asked so nicely, here's another peek.)
Oh, and that fine lady you see with the camera is Kay English, and we are super excited to see how she captured this.

Elisabeth's little baby bump is just getting more adorable by the day. I am already madly in love with her daughter, Claire (as is Emi), so I can't wait to meet the newest edition to her family. We've been talking a lot about the experience of having kids, and it brought to mind this piece by Phillip Toleando (the photographer who did the piece about spending time with his aging father). It's a candid exploration of his own experience with being a father, and I think it's quite beautiful.
Speaking of beautiful, did you know that Sweet Paul recently opened an Etsy shop to sell stuff left over from shoots that he styles? I am swooning over this teapot.

Also, we won't be mad if you haven't because we've been bombarding you with other stuff, but:
-Did you see that our Internet Crushes for November are up?
-Have you checked out You + ME* Holiday?  Elisabeth has been working like a pack of over-caffeinated elves to bring you buckets of holiday goodness. We've got some super exciting announcements to make over there in the coming week, and Elisabeth already has a great (and growing by the day) list of gift guides up (check the tabs at the top of the page) for those of you who like to get a head start on holiday shopping.

Ciao for now, loves. I'll see you right back here tomorrow with a great autumn recipe (I've eaten almost nothing else for the past two weeks) and an easy-peasy dessert recipe to boot.

Happy Hump Day!

Whew, Wednesday! It's been a pretty busy week for us here, but we're hanging in there and powering through like champs. How about you? Everyone holding up okay? Let's get on with the goodness, shall we? Here's some miscellany that would be appropriate for all of those brides and grooms out there, but also appropriate for you non-brides and non-grooms.

source
I bet you also determined this when you saw their recipe box that made the rounds a while back, but Rifle Paper Company is on point. That is all.
source
Wait, no, that's not all. I've got this zucchini bread in the oven right now--how pretty would this be sliced and tucked into bags as late-night snacks or next-morning gift bags?

Cat Eye Eyeglasses, Vintage50sEyewear
Jordy and I are heading to the optometrist on Saturday. My mom is going to be in town(!!!) later this week, so we are taking full advantage of the babysitting to get brunch and get our eyes checked. Hot, right? When they ask me which frames I want, though, you best believe that I will be turning up my nose and heading right home to procure some vintage glasses. Right now, I am feeling these:

1950's Hornrimmed Glasses, Ifoundgallery11

Right? I KNOW! If you're a bride who doesn't want to wear contacts, what about getting yourself a cool new pair of vintage glasses for your big day (this is actually a little sneak peek into something we have up our sleeves)?

And furthermore,

This lady is seriously talented. She designed my new tattoo, and her work would be an AMAZING addition to your wedding. She offers custom calligraphy rubber stamps, which would be an easy way to personalize things if you're on a budget.

Shauna and Steven are working on a new collection of these.  One word: plaid! Three words: OMG PLAID YAAAAAAYYY!

We have a huge treat (literally) coming up tomorrow! We'll tell you more tomorrow, but let's just say we're welcoming another friendly face to the YOU + ME* Equals team, and we think you guys will be besties in no time flat.

That's all the miscellany for today, lovelies. We're so glad you stopped by. Go out and carpe diem!

Wednesday Miscellany

Hello friends! It's Wednesday already and I sure am glad. Our whole house came to the realization last night that it's not allergies, or too little humidity inside from the heater that's making us all feel so crummy. Nope, it's that we're all sick! I'm counting down the hours until we can start a cozy, low key weekend. Until then, there will be a whole lot of tea and cocoa drinking going on here. How about some internet distractions too:

What do these three things have in common? Visit this site to find out.

Loving these pumpkins. They reminded me of this faux pottery project that I've been meaning to try for ages now.

Remember the You Are Special plate we wrote about here? Now you can get a prettified version.

Do you need an idea for an incredibly thoughtful, completely personalized, but not outrageously priced holiday gift. Three words: this is it

I wonder what recipe Stephanie has in store for us today as part of the Pretty Mommy recipe exchange. If the name of her blog is any indication, it's going to be scrumptious.

Oh, and visit the phenomenal Trent Bailey's blog for a few hints about what we did on Monday afternoon. More to come soon, but be excited, very excited.

Enjoy your Wednesday!
